This tune came to me one afternoon in my apartment on 136th street in New York. The opening eight-note pick-ups are abstracted from the tambora of the Merengues that always resonated throughout the neighborhood.

This one was named by Reservoir Music producer Mark Feldman during the date of the same name (with Rufus Reid and Billy Higgins) which consisted of all first takes recorded in under 3 hours.

This one’s for Bud. It’s based on “Somebody Loves Me” (but major instead of minor in one place) with a tag and Bud’s coda.
