This recording was inspired by Robs return to New York City in 2002. Familiar tunes, including the standards “Darn that Dream,” “Nature Boy” and “I Concentrate on You,” as well as jazz classics “Giant Steps” and “Sonnymoon for Two,” are transformed and infused with the unpredictable energy of the city. Stretching out and stirring the pots with Rob are bassist Boris Kozlov and drummer Johnathan Blake.
